The past two day's headlines portraying news of Marcus leaving FnaticMSI and signing with SK Gaming citing outdated leaked contracts, we would like to take this time to explain this situation to our fans in detail.
While Marcus has expressed his desire to leave FnaticMSI to join up with SK Gaming, he has also been willing to discuss his release and transfer - SK Gaming have not. There have been no words between the management of FnaticMSI and SK Gaming. Sadly this is not the first time a situation such as this has happened between the two organizations making this a very sad and upsetting time for esports and CS.
Numerous times before and during CeBIT, SK Gaming have attempted to acquire FnaticMSI contracted players such as Strenx without going through the proper channels. Unfortunately, the same situation has presented itself again with Marcus.
Additionally, SK Gaming have openly claimed that the days when FnaticMSI and SK Gaming can come to an agreement in a civilized manner are over, something that shows their unprofessional attitude and goes against the foundations of G7. These situations are a blemish on the face of Counter-Strike and eSports as a whole, and a true reflection of the Managing Director, Alex Mueller.
It should be acknowledged that FnaticMSI would be open and willing to discuss the transfer and release of Marcus 'Delpan' Larsson when approached professionally; however, at this point dissapointingly SK-Gaming have failed to do this. Instead SK Gaming has decided to ignore and respect contracts.
FnaticMSI has always aimed to do everything by the book. We have a consistent record when it comes to the buying of players out of contracts. It is truly disappointing to see the recent actions of SK-Gaming and we hope this exposes them for what they truly are.
Below is a statement from FnaticMSI Business Development Manager, Neil Kirk:
"The actions of SK Gaming Managing Director, Alex Mueller, and his recent comments on Twitter are deeply disappointing and unprofessional. The G7 was formed on the basis to promote the cooperation and unity between professional organizations. At no stage has SK Gaming attempted to contact any member of the FnaticMSI management to discuss the transfer and release of Marcus 'delpan' Larsson. It is clear that Marcus has a desire and intention to leave FnaticMSI and we acknowledge this, however this does not give either the player or competitor the right just to ignore a valid contract. This shows the true colours of SK Gaming. We still strive and seek a mutually agreeable and professional outcome, something that at this stage is proving difficult. Regardless of past history I would urge SK Gaming to resolve this matter amicably."
